I research and teach social media at the Temple University Fox School of Business in Philadelphia, PA. I have a degree in computer science, an MBA, and a PhD in information systems. My doctoral dissertation studied the role of leadership in continued participation in online communities. My major research focus is online communities as a form of social media that supports organizational knowledge management. I also study knowledge management in healthcare.

My research has appeared in Organization Science and at international conferences sponsored by leading academic organizations including the Academy of Management, the Association of Information Systems, and
the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS).

I teach undergraduate and graduate courses in social media innovation, information technology management,
business systems analysis, and business intelligence. I have created an undergraduate course on Social Media Innovation that includes a Social Media Innovation Quest.

Before pursuing his doctoral studies, I worked in the information technology industry for 15 years. Working in a variety of roles spanning software development, IT sales and marketing, and IT project management I aided numerous Fortune 500 organizations in multiple industries including financial services, health care, and insurance.
