Ernst & Young (EY) is part of the Big Four accounting firms with its’ headquarters in London, England. The firm has 4 major service lines which are Audit, Transaction, Advisory, and Assurance. I worked in the Risk Advisory practice this past summer and was able to gain skills and knowledge about the audit work done within the Advisory Practice. I have learned a lot about the company’s culture which is highlighted in its motto to “Building a Better Working World”. This includes the work that we do, the people that the company invests in and the client relationships that we foster. My responsibilities included:
- Working on SOC 1 reports which included evidence collection, client interviews, and writing walkthroughs.
- Identifying risks and understanding mitigating controls through the creation of risk matrices.
- Tested controls for multiple clients and understood why each was effective or ineffective.
