Front Desk Assistant at Temple University

I work at the Front Desk at Temple Towers Residence Hall at Temple University. In this position, my main task is logging in/out packages students have delivered to the residence hall. Originally, I used GoogleApps to create a spreadsheet and manually input relevant information and send emails to students. Now, we use a system, HEDWIG, that is connected to all residence halls and maintains a database with all student and package information. I also helped train other workers to use the system and help to troubleshoot connectivity issues for our building. In addition to the package log, I also manually maintain a log of resident lockout and key code changes and move-out details.

In this position, I have learned the importance of the administrative support. The main keys to giving effect support are communication and organization. Communicating issues effectively to administration, other workers, and those the problems directly affect is very necessary in an organization, whether small or large. Organization comes into play in helping things run efficiently and effectively. When you and everyone else knows where everything is and have the same understanding of the technology it generates a better workflow. For my work here so far, I was awarded a certificate of appreciation for Dedication in Providing Administrative Support at the end of the Spring 2017 semester.
