BDP International
BDP International is a Philadelphia based Import/Export logistics company that has offices worldwide. Some of their clients include Dow Chemical, DuPont, as well as other smaller chemical companies. My responsibilities at BDP include looking over the booking advice sent by one of our clients (in this case Dow) and create a booking request in BDP’s system. In order to get the information to book the shipment properly I have limited access to Dow’s SAP ECC system, where I can review the booking advice and once the booking is complete and sent through BDP’s system to a carrier update Dow’s SAP system to reflect that the booking request has been sent. Using the same to systems I also confirm the shipments once the carriers accept (or deny) the booking request. Using both SAP and BDP’s SmarTerm system has given me extensive knowledge of the day to day use of IT systems in business.
Throughout my time at BDP I also got a chance to look in on some of the Audit and risk management processes of the business. Though I have not been handed these responsibilities on my own as of yet I have helped colleagues, as well as been walked through the various processes. This has given me first hand experience on the various ways businesses insure they are doing the best work possible, and catching errors before they become more problematic. I have also gone through several training sessions that are outside my responsibilities, including government and international regulations, compliance, security, and Project management.
