Thank you for looking at my E-Portfolio! My name is Yang Li Kang. I graduated with a BBA in Actuarial Science from Temple University in May 2016 and I am currently pursuing a Master’s of Science in IT Auditing and Cyber Security  in Temple University.

I initially chose Actuarial Science as my undergraduate major because I believed that was what I wanted to do as a career. However, as I learned more about the profession, my interest fell. Since I was already on my 3rd year when I transferred to Temple University, it was too late for me to change majors so, I added a minor in MIS instead. As I took courses for my MIS minor, my interest in the IT field in relation to business increased.

During my Data Analytics class, I had the opportunity to participate in Temple’s Data Analytics Challenge Fall 2015. I collaborated a classmate to analyze QVC’s sales data and created an infographic. Our group managed to enter the final round where the top 20 out of the 400 participants where were given the opportunity to present our infographic to a group judges who were senior  directors of multiple companies including QVC, Deloitte, Commerce Bank and Lockheed Martin. We were finally awarded Honorable Mentions (4th – 10th Place). Please take a look at our infographic here.

I am currently working in Temple University’s International Admissions Office and I am experiencing first hand how IT really enables business functions. All of my work experience have been centered around the IT function of a business and I have enjoyed working at every one of them. I believed that this is what I wanted to do for my career. I know that my minor in MIS may not be enough for me to pursue this path, so I decided to pursue a Master’s degree in IT Auditing and Cyber Security.
