Field Data Collection & Mobile GIS: Digital Tools for Research in the Field
I took part in a lecture about using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to modernize field research. This webinar taught me how to set up QGIS projects for QField to enable georeferenced field observations and how to create and implement digital survey forms using KoBoToolbox. Critical technological abilities, such as controlling offline data gathering, GPS tracking, and integrating multimedia into field processes, were highlighted in the course. By becoming proficient with these digital technologies, I will be able to replace ineffective paper based procedures with optimized, cloud synced procedures that guarantee data integrity and real-time synchronization between desktop and mobile devices.
