Interests
Some of my interests include music and social media. I’ve loved all aspects of music my whole life, being a part of my school musicals and chamber choir all throughout middle and high school. Today, I find myself constantly trying to discover new music artists and scenes. In today’s age, I believe the concept of binding genre is behind us as a culture with so many new and emerging artists releasing music that refuses to be confined by only one or two genre labels. One dream job for me would be working for a large music streaming platform working with analytics in regards to streaming. Seeing songs on Spotify that have millions, even billions, of streams gets my mind racing. When I see numbers like that, I immediately start asking, “What region in the world makes up the majority of these numbers? What is the age demographic this song is most popular with? How many people visited the artist’s page and listened to more music by said artist after listening to this song?” and so on and so forth. This is just another reason why I chose MIS as my major because I know the concepts I learn during my time here will not only get me the answers to these questions but hopefully also get me the position at my dream job.
Many of the reasons I love music is the same for how I feel about social media. I was lucky enough to grow up along side the growth of social media. I remember years ago most people saw social media as a fun activity to simply share aspects of your life with friends and family. Now, people are becoming millionaires and mainstream celebrities because of social media which absolutely blows my mind. Another dream job for me would be working for YouTube or Twitch and working with the analytics that comes with the large amounts of traffic these sites receive daily.
