Turn Social Distancing Into an Opportunity to Create Social Closeness
In the IT related live webinar “Turn Social Distancing Into an Opportunity to Create Social Closeness”, we were joined by Bessie Pescio, VP of Global Internal Communications at Philip Morris International (PMI) on September 23, 2021. Bessie Kokalis Pescio is Vice President of Global Internal Communications at Philip Morris International (PMI) based in Lausanne, Switzerland. She talks about the 3 problems they faced during the pandemic. They wanted to keep their global workforce engaged and connected, increase confidence in the company’s ongoing business transformation, and equip employees with content and resources to help navigate the new remote working reality. To do this, she talks about the “Steps to motivate and engage with their team”. Which are to work together, find inspiration, and to turn challenges to opportunity. Her team was able to do this by taking inspiration from The New York Times wellness challenge and engaging and creating events to bring the community and team together. One of these event that became a huge hit was the PMI Music Experience & Open Stage. From this webinar, I learned about how working remotely can still bring people together and how it can even make people come together even more by involving everyone and sharing things they love. This webinar can related to almost everyone because everyone faced this during the pandemic and how it affects everyone’s motivation to do work being stuck at home all day. This also help shape how I would like my future workplace to be like being involved and having event that motivate us to stay engaged and connected even when working from home.
