MIS 2101- Information Systems in Organizations
In the class, I was able to gain a better understanding of MIS as a whole and the relationship between data and business. In this class, we discussed customer relationship management systems, enterprise systems, IoT, and emerging technologies that will further enable the business. The end of the course was dedicated to giving us a basic knowledge of JavaScript and how HTML and CSS are used within programming.
MIS 2402- Web Application Developement
In this class, I was shown some of the core principles of web application development. This class involved a lot of hands-on experience that gave me a deeper understanding of programming fundamentals. Throughout the class, the core language we used was JavaScript, which was also supplemented with CSS and HTML5. During the semester we were challenged each week with a new coding assignment that would test our skills and knowledge of core coding principles such as connecting to an API, serializing data, validating user inputs through HTML forms, and much more.
MIS 2502- Data Analytics
This course was unique as it was split into two parts. The first part was focused on transactional databases and creating ERD schemas for companies. In the first part, we also worked heavily in MySQL Workbench where we learned how to form SQL and NoSQL queries to extract data from a database. The second part of the class was focused on data analytics using an analytical data store. We were able to use tools such as R and RStudio to create decision trees, clustering segmentation, and association rules to help come up with informed decisions based on data.
