Service Work
Being an active member in my community is very important to me. During my freshman year I decided to participate in the HYPE (Helping Youth Pursue Excellence) Teen Program in association with Project HOME. This program is a college preparatory program that seeks to efficiently prepare teens and families in previously underserved areas to achieve college success through the mediums of career and college readiness, college access and successful college retention. I was given the opportunity to tutor individuals from local North Philadelphia high schools in any subject areas they may have been struggling with, and also give social and life advice. It was an amazing experience and enabled me to form amazing connections.
In addition to the HYPE Teen Program, I have participated in a variety of other community service events. I’ve also had involvement with Give Kids Sight Day, Comcast Cares Day, the Special Olympics of Philadelphia, United by Blue, and UnLitter Temple.
