Work Experience

Project Management Intern, Prudential Financial, Summer 2018

During the Summer of 2018 I was a Project Management intern at Prudential Financial’s Dresher, PA office. Prudential is a global corporation with approximately 50,000 employees and a worldwide presence. I worked in the Technology Enablement Center (TEC) within Prudential’s Global Business and Technology Solutions (GBTS) group.

The TEC’s main responsibility is to keep all of the Business Units running smoothly in terms of technology and service. This occurs through day to day as well as longer spanning operations. In my time at Prudential, I’ve gotten first hand experience of both.

A major project that I got exposure to was the company’s move from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Though this sounds straightforward, countless hours are spent each week working on different aspects of the project. Examples of this include coordinating between Business Units to make sure ll of the applications they are using are compatible with the new operating system, and scheduling waves of pilot users, recording their feedback, and making adjustments to the project as necessary. On the day to day, some I worked on with my team was solving Remedy tickets. Remedy is a service management tool that Prudential uses to manage service/problem tickets. Whenever anyone within the company has a hardware or software request, they submit a ticket into Remedy and my team in the TEC works to solve it as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Through this experience, I got a glimpse into corporate culture and how deeply technology plays a role in the short and long term success of a corporation. After starting my internship experience, I noticed very quickly that the MIS coursework is directly applicable to the business world. The course that I feel had the most similarity with my work as an intern is Enterprise IT Architecture. This course highlights the organizational side of IT and having taken this course the semester before my internship, I was able to apply it fully.

Peer Advising at the Fox School of Business, Temple University, May 2017-Present

Peer Advising at the College of Science and Technology (CST), Temple University, July 2016-May 2017

My work experience includes  working as a Peer Advisor to the School of Science and Technology and the Fox School of Business at Temple University.

Being a Peer Advisor has been a great experience. I have learned an immense amount including organizational skills, time management, phone etiquette, and the importance of teamwork. I feel that holding this position has also given me the confidence to tackle any situation that is thrown my way.

One of my primary responsibilities as a  peer advisor was to work on a team to serve up to 40 students per shift at the  advising office. I assist students who come to the office with any academic questions/concern they may have. I also answer phone calls and respond to emails regarding questions students of the college have regarding their academics, help advisors with appointment scheduling, do filing work, and fulfill other basic office responsibilities.
