Intern, IT Functions

During my internship with Endo, under the supervision of Chandra Prabha Botcha, Senior Manager of Finance SAP & Applications, key contributions were made to initiatives within the Finance IT department. One of the main responsibilities involved collaborating on the development of Segregation of Duties (SOD) and Key Authorization (KA) documents, which were essential for maintaining system integrity and ensuring compliance with security protocols. This experience provided valuable insights into the importance of strict access controls in financial systems to prevent unauthorized actions.

In addition, the coordination and documentation of Finance IT team meetings were handled, ensuring that detailed minutes facilitated clear communication and supported informed decision-making. This helped keep the team aligned on project goals and contributed to smoother workflows.

In terms of data analysis, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) reports were generated and analyzed, offering insights into transactional data flows. Furthermore, data mismatches in six financial pharmaceutical reports were resolved using advanced Excel techniques, sharpening analytical and problem-solving skills.

A significant contribution was the development of an IT Functions Intern handbook, authored in collaboration with Finance IT experts. This handbook helped streamline the onboarding process for future interns, ensuring efficient knowledge transfer.

Attending the IT Intern education series provided an in-depth overview of various systems, including Computer Systems Validation, Human Capital Management (Workday), ERP SAP, E-Discovery, and a tour of the data center. Additionally, this exposure extended to systems like Coupa, Concur, ModelN, OneStream, Corcentric, and SAP, broadening knowledge of the features, application design, user access, and interfaces crucial to IT operations.

Beyond technical learning, participation in various networking events with Endo’s C-level executives offered invaluable exposure to leadership perspectives. Building connections with over 50 Endo employees through one-on-one meetings helped deepen understanding of the company’s operations and provided opportunities for seeking advice.

Research was also conducted on Generative AI trends in the pharmaceutical industry, culminating in a paper that contributed to Endo’s AI initiatives. AI use cases were developed for the IT department, aimed at optimizing workflows and enhancing efficiency.

Overall, the internship provided the opportunity to build strong analytical and communication skills while gaining practical experience in healthcare IT and finance operations, along with deep insights into the pharmaceutical industry.
