Google Glass Hackathon

While working at Google’s Tel Aviv offices in May of 2014, I experienced my first hackathon. However, it was not just any hackathon, it was a Google Glass hackathon.

According to Techopedia.com, a Hackathon is: “a gathering where programmers collaboratively code in an extreme manner over a short period of time.”

I had the opportunity to witness innovators of all ages and backgrounds (seriously, there were KIDS who must have been 10 years old running around wearing Google Glass, and swiftly typing code) develop new solutions for Google’s next big product.

While Google Glass has been discontinued until further notice, I was able to experience the future of technology. Contrary to prior belief, it is in fact not a robot that is inventing today’s cutting-edge technology, it’s regular people just like me and you. I was able to discover the power of hackathons, and how technology companies & big businesses drive innovation.
