Assistant Event Coordinator of Organization of African Students

After two years of involvement with the Temple Organization of African Students (OAS), I’m excited to share that I am now serving as an e-board member, holding the leadership position of Assistant Event Coordinator for the 2024-2025 school year. In this role, I help organize large-scale cultural events such as the African Gala, pageants, and collaborations with the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University, which build strong ties among students and local entrepreneurs. These events also create a pipeline relationship with vendors, promoting community engagement.

I also lead bi-weekly meetings that provide a safe space for the African diaspora to connect, socialize, and share their culture through discussions, activities, games, and potlucks. Additionally, I organize fundraisers, selling popular African dishes and accessories to drive support for local African businesses and neighboring schools, as well as international development initiatives. Being part of OAS allows me to give back to my community, which is important to me as I balance my school and professional obligations, aligning with my career goals of staying connected to the community that helps shape me.
