Product Marketing
What I Learned: This LinkedIn Learning course taught me the principals of Product Marketing. One of the main concepts explored throughout the course includes the product lifecycle which includes the Development, Introduction, Growth, Maturity, and Decline phases. The course provided insight into possible actions one could take in each phase, like leveraging already-loyal customers in the maturity phase to reach laggard customers. The course also focused on Product Market Fit, which involves using messaging, value propositions, competitive intelligence, and the definition of your target market to help ensure that your product aligns with your customers’ needs and behaviors. Finally, the course discussed the importance marketing metrics and team alignment in the overall product marketing strategy and what one can do in order to make the most of these factors.
As a Marketing/MIS double major, Product Marketing applies to both principles. MIS involves the production of digital products, which also go through the product lifestyle. By learning the foundations of Product Marketing, I am growing my knowledge so I can contribute to either of these fields in meaningful ways, whether its for a Marketing position or a position in the tech field.
