  • Actuarial Corporate Finance
    • As opposed to the regular upper level corporate finance class at FOX, Actuarial Corporate finance is very math and formula heavy. The class is catered to teaching about the third actuarial exam, exam IFM.
    • The highlights of the course included learning how to find the net present value of projects and calculating the present value of options.
  • Theory of Interest
    • This actuarial class is catered to the second actuarial exam, exam FM.
    • Building on topics and formulas from previous probability classes, Theory of interest taught me about calculating present values of bonds and loans. It was a very formula heavy class and also required critical thinking to solve complex financial problems.
  • Actuarial Probability and Statistics I & II
    • These classes focused mainly on preparing you for the first actuarial exam, exam P.
    • I was able to learn about probability distributions during these courses.

Business Core Classes:

  • Intro to Accounting (Managerial and Financial)
    • For managerial, we learned about making high level business decisions considering expected productivity and demand shifts.
    • For financial, we focused on learning about the regulatory financial statements that all business need to submit.
  • Intro to Marketing
    • Looked at different types of marketing analysis tools (Trends in consumer behavior and virtual marketing tools) as well as learned about market research processes.
  • Macro and microeconomics
    • Learned about both market trends and individual business decision making based on supply and demand.

    • Looked at legal structures of businesses. We also spent a lot of time learning about liability in business.

    • Talked about and analyzed ethical dilemmas and their impacts on the performance of a business.
