Marketing Intern at Canada Life Re (May 2020 – August 2020)

Company Overview:

Canada Life Re is a subsidiary of Great west Life Co, an international reinsurer. Canada life provides traditional and structured reinsurance solutions in North America. They have offices in Philadelphia and Toronto, Toronto being the headquarter.

My Role:

I worked in the Philadelphia office of Canada Life which focuses on US structured reinsurance. My role as the marketing intern was to gather regulatory data and analyze the results for the marketing team. The data gave insights into their competitors’ movements in the market. I utilized macros in excel as well as managed intricate workbooks throughout the course of my internship.

Actuarial Intern at Travelers (June 2019 – August 2019)

Company Overview:

Travelers is a large property and casualty insurance company. Their products range from stop loss coverage for large business and groups to individual property coverage. Based in Hartford, Connecticut, Travelers has offices in St. Paul, Minnesota, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and New York, New York. They also have an international presence in Brazil, Ireland, and the UK.

My Role:

I was based in the Philadelphia office for my internship. Although I was the only intern in my office, I had extensive contact with interns in the St. Paul and Hartford offices. As the actuarial intern I was able to attend excel skill and actuarial workshops. I was tasked with updating a monthly booking process which required me to use SQL programming to merge and manipulate data tables from the company database.
