At Pitcairn Trust Company, a medium-size organization, there are 72 employees. As an intern this is valuable experience for me because I am exposed to a lot of the business and technical side, but most importantly, I could see my work made an impact. As a IT Support Intern, I am the first line of support and my responsibilities include, diagnosing user problems with network, email, and system access, and evaluating software and hardware issues. Also I am responsibility for new computer builds for new employees or current employees getting computer upgrades. For this, I utilize the information I learned in MIS 2501, Enterprise IT Architecture, by joining these computers to the domain/network, and working with Active Directory Domain Services. In addition to technical support I’m involved in various projects within the IT department. For example, I assisted in improving business processes by reaching out to the company’s cloud storage vendor to write a batch file script to automate its daily file transfer process, which includes approximately 200 files, for the wealth management team. Another project I am involved in is the process of upgrading to SharePoint 2016 from SharePoint 2010.
