Projects and What I learned:
–2015 Customer Satisfaction Survey– The 2015 CSS was initially a project I worked on in Fall 2015. However, in January 2016, we closed the project by creating an executive report, which included data from the survey, leading to continuous improvement items for each department. The departments at TMNAS will be able to use the data received to see what they need to work on in 2016 to provide better services for our group companies (customers). I had never created an executive report before, so this educational for me to experience all the steps that go into a project and large report like this. The 2015 Customer Satisfaction Survey Executive Report was a total of 17 pages and was distributed to all of TMNAS and the group companies.
–Time-Tracking Compliance – Even though going through time-reports is a tedious process, it is essential for Project Managers to review and enforce. I learned that time-tracking is very important for project managers to see how much time contractors are spending on projects. Project Managers need this for charge-back reports and to bay consulting/contracting companies. This process has also taught me how manage and communicate with people. If contractors did not input their time for the previous week, I had to email them to remind them to input their time. If they did not listen, I had to speak with their manager to get them to remind the contractor. It was important for me to speak professionally and communicate well within these emails. Otherwise, the contractors and managers would not take me seriously. Overall, I feel enforcing time tracking has helped my communication skills immensely.
How it relates to my coursework:
In my Lead Global Projects course, I learned to act as a project manager and manage my team of business analysts. I also learned how to write many different types of deliverables needed to organize and implement a project successfully. Within my time at TMNAS, I have successfully implemented all I have learned within my Lead Global Project course as a Project Management and Service Management Intern.
