About Me

Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my MIS community site! I am originally from Overbrook, in West Philadelphia, but currently reside in Glenside. I am a junior MIS major, and enjoy technology as well as solving problems.

Lavner Camps & Programs Summer 2014 – Fall 2017

I have spent the past four summers working in multiple roles at Lavner Camps and programs. Every year at Lavner Camps I was promoted for my hard work, and over four summers I went from an assistant instructor to a technology assistant. As a technology assistant I was tasked with handling inventory, doing software updates on equipment, training employees,  solving server problems, and many other day to day tasks. During my time there I learned some valuable lessons about working, but the three biggest lessons I have learned will always stay with me. The first is being cordial, which I have maintained as a cornerstone to how I carry myself. I will always do my best to be kind and friendly to everyone I meet. The second lesson I learned was the importance of constructive criticism, Constructive criticism is vitally important to growing as a professional and developing as a person. I always seek out criticism about my work to know what to improve on so that I can become better and better as I go on. The third biggest lesson I learned was the importance of teamwork. I have played sports all my life, more specifically soccer, so I was already aware of how a team needs to work together to win. However, I never thought about applying that to the working world until my time at Lavner Camps. When people work cohesively any daunting project can become a much simpler one, and strong team chemistry can build great camaraderie in an office.

Smokin’ Hot Solutions: Winter 2017 –  Spring 2018

Smokin’ Hot Solutions is a marketing solutions company that worked with a wide array of clients. I was hired as a web design and search engine optimization intern and learned a great deal. While there I worked on many projects ranging from developing project proposals for clients to developing client websites. I also did work on the company’s headshop and did a large deal of work with content management systems. The content management platform we primarily used was WordPress, which I now feel extremely confident using. I was also able to utilize my HTML and CSS skills by working on the backend of WordPress, and was glad to see tools I learned in class come into play at my internship. Additionally, I had to do some problem solving for a variety of issues that would pop up on daily basis.  Often times whenever there was an issue with website layouts or design flaws, I would generate code to resolve the issue which was a challenge I frequently found to be fun.

Goals

After a fun time working with Lavner Camps, and Smokin’ Hot Solutions, I am now seeking a new challenge! I have aspirations of working as a business analyst or web designer. Within six months after graduation I hope to have a job doing web design, because that’s something that I am strongly interested in and believe I can be very good at. I am hoping to find some new experiences that will help me grow as a professional, and I am looking forward to what my senior year will have in store for me.
