Design Challenge

For the 2015 Design Challenge, participates ranging from high schools to graduate students from different schools and university around the city, they were task with coming up with a way to get more people to use public transportation in the form of SEPTA.

Students were put in teams with each student specializing in a certain area. Each team had to come up with an idea that would help decrease the amount of cars on the road and get more people to use public transportation. Each group’s proposal would be judge by a panel compose of employee of SEPTA, the city government, and community leaders.

My group’s proposal was a market campaign that includes creating a mascot for SEPTA, special kiosk for in subway stops that would provide information as well as live assistance at all times include video chat and LCD panels on bus to provide better information about route and stops. The main focus of the campaign was to let riders and potential riders know that they don’t have to worry about their safety especially at night, which was one of the biggest concerns from riders.

Although my team didn’t win, I was able to get a lot out of this event that will help me with my future. Since we only had a limit amount of time during the day to get different task done, it help my time management skills as well as my organizational skills. This event also allow me to work on my networking skills by meet different people from different backgrounds.
