Work Experience

Government Employees Insurance Company (GEICO)

I currently work in Actuarial Pricing at GEICO’s home office in Chevy Chase, MD. For the first few months of my employment, I assisted the Motorcycle/RV Pricing Team by completing pricing reviews and filing rate changes for the motorcycle product in Missouri, Louisiana, and Colorado. Since then I have devoted a majority of my time to completing pricing reviews and filing rate changes for our Midwest Region states (Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, & Wisconsin); my projects have primarily focused on IL, OH, and KY. I have also helped train several new associates on the rate review and filing process. A significant portion of my time is devoted to participating in our department-wide technical development team. As a member of this team, I use my knowledge of Visual Basic to increase automation in department processes.

I also play softball as part of the GEICO league. Go Direct Hit!

XL Insurance

In Summer 2011 and Summer 2012, I interned with the pricing actuaries for Professional Lines at XL Insurance in Hartford, CT (2011) and Exton, PA (2012). Over the course of these two summers, I was given several short- and long-term projects to complete independently. These projects included running monthly metrics reports for the various lines of insurance, updating and building rating tools using Microsoft Excel, Access, and Visual Basic, and completing in-depth statistical analyses of claims data. I was also able to observe a few underwriting round tables, so I was able to learn a bit about the underwriting side of the insurance industry as well.

Old Navy

I worked as a Sales Associate at Old Navy in Canton, CT from August 2008 to December 2010. My responsibilities/jobs included: cashier, fitting room attendant, organizing the clearance department, and maintaining floor displays.
