ReminderMedia was established in 2003 and provides customized follow-up tools for many industries to generate repeat customers. ReminderMedia accomplishes this by publishing American Lifestyle magazine that is customized towards each client’s needs.

August 2015-December 2015:

I worked for ReminderMedia as a Business Development Intern along with eleven other Business Development interns.

Our responsibilities included:

  • Learning their customized CRM/ERP system
  • Researching and gathering information and inserting it into their CRM/ERP system
  • Reformatting existing lists of data
  • Generating reports
  • Deciding if certain customers should be used as leverage for the sales team
  • Attending and participating in daily meetings/discussions
  • Working occasionally with other departments of the business to fully understand how they work

What I learned:

Being a Business Development intern for ReminderMedia was a great learning experience for me. Besides growing my professional development, I was also able to apply my coursework to the job. Since ReminderMedia’s CRM/ERP system is completely customized, I had never seen it before, and and had to learn it from scratch. Working with a new system in the beginning can be challenging, but with time and effort and a little research, you will learn. I also had to look at code on occasion, looking for hidden information that needed to be inserted into the CRM/ERP system. Since I learned how to code at Temple, this task came a lot easier for me and I was able to apply what I learned to my work.

After working in the Business Development department for two months, I was able to sit in with the Business Intelligence department and work on a few projects that they had going for them. After 2 weeks, the person in charge had asked if I wanted to come back next semester and work as a Business Intelligence intern. I accepted and began working on Business Intelligence projects, while still working in the Business Development department.

December 2015-May 2016

I am currently a Business Intelligence intern with ReminderMedia along with 2 other Business Intelligence interns.

Our responsibilities include:

  • Identifying business opportunities and ways to increase efficiency in the organization
  • Leverage data to improve the quality of sales data through various methods of intelligence gathering
  • Develop data-driven analyses
  • Identify, prioritize, and track quality issues
  • Communicate plans and progress with management through daily meetings and throughout the work day
  • Lead or participate in other projects or assigned duties

Projects:

Merrill Lynch

The goal is to find an efficient way to input mass amounts of data into the CRM. Financial Advisors are some of ReminderMedia’s top customers and their information is very important and must be accurate. Some of the steps that we need to take include:

  1. Research all existing offices in the U.S.
  2. Create spreadsheet of all data on each office.
  3. Insert all new offices into CRM.
  4. Identify CRM contact IDs for all existing contacts within the Network.
  5. Create contacts not currently in the CRM, in correct office locations.
  6. Transfer and update existing contacts.

We have consolidated all of the offices and organized all of the data onto a spreadsheet. We are troubleshooting to see if we could use codes to automatically update the CRM.

SAS

The goal is to use SAS to try to “churn” the data to see who the best candidates for ReminderMedia to call as potential customers would be.

Some of the steps that we need to take include:

  1. Collecting a large sample set of data from our current customers.
  2. Formatting the data properly for SAS.
  3. Run tests through SAS.

Before we could do any of this, ReminderMedia only uses RapidMiner right now, a program similar to SAS, but not as advanced. We have so far reformatted data to fit SAS instead of RapidMiner and ran miner tests. Our next step is collecting data that is more in-depth so we can target our customers more specifically.
