Experience

Maris Grove Erickson Community, Glen Mills, PA

-Employee since September 2009 to January 2014

-Recipient of Maris Grove Scholarship

-I started at Maris Grove as a Restaurant Assistant and my main duties included preparing and making food for over three hundred residents in a regular night.  Often servicing many more on holidays and special events.  Majority of my job required of me to prepare the meals for the dinner that evening and ensuring that the orders were done correctly. Since then, I have been promoted to Restaurant Associate.  In which my duties are relatively the same, but now I am in more of a leadership role over the other Restaurant Assistants.  Since my promotion, I have also taken the role of expediting the orders before they are sent out to the residents.  This is a very big role because the quality and the presentation of the food is very important in our restaurant.

-I truly love my job at Maris Grove.  I have been there for a long time and they are a fantastic company that I will always recommend to my friends.  It is a job that I have held for numerous years and it really has taught me a lot.  Maris Grove has shown me how to take a leadership role in a hectic environment that I know will only benefit me in the future.

Temple University Dean’s Office, Philadelphia, PA

-Employee since September 2011 to Present

-I began working at the Dean’s Office in the College of Liberal Arts department when I was a freshman and have been working their ever since.  My daily assignments are to aide the office workers with anything they may need.  I am often helping the dean of the college and other workers with faxes, scans, copies or any errands they need completed.  All of which are basic office functions that anyone working in an office would need to know how to do.  Interfiling paperwork and delivering departmental mail to other buildings are also apart of my job at the Dean’s Office.  In between my daily functions at the office, I sometimes am able to work on homework or study for my classes.  I always take advantage of my free time while at work because if I am not busy helping an employee the best way to pass time is to take care of school work.  I work with two other students and we all assist each other with the office work that needs to be done.  It is definitely a team work environment which is a great aspect of the job.  In the past I have even performed receptionist duties such as answering phones and directing the caller too their desired departments.  As well as working the front desk in the office to greet guests to the department office and take them to specific offices.

-Working while I am at school is a great opportunity that I am lucky enough to have.  The office that I worked in provided me with an idea of the inner-workings of an office and taught me basic skills that are needed in an office setting.  The skills that I am obtaining over my time there will benefit me in the working world.
