Course Work

I have taken Introduction to Management Information Systems, MIS 2101. In this course, I learned many things about the Major and this course mainly changed my decision to declare to an MIS major. We learned about ERD systems and other business improvement systems.

Fall semester of 2018, Data Analytics and Data-Centric Application Development were my classes. We learned about a lot of information that regarded data. Big Data, R program, SQL, Infographics, Visuals, and more. Along with learning coding languages like Javascript, HTML, CSS and more. This was my first experience within MIS learning career type beneficial information. I was putting a lot more effort into those classes and realized that I really started to enjoy my classwork.

Spring 2019 was my biggest year within the MIS program. I took the courses Data Science, Digital Solutions Studio, and Enterprise IT Architecture. All of these courses gave an experience that was unrelatable to any other class. In Data Science, I learned a lot about big data, Tableau, Excel, and more. In Digital Solutions Studio, this class exposed us to a Business Analysis role in a business setting. In Enterprise IT Architecture, we were taught many things about Microsoft Azure and Node.JS. These two classes of Digital Solutions Studio and Enterprise IT Architecture are some of my favorite classes. The Digitial Solutions Studio class related to my career path because at the start of my internship I wanted to become a BA.

Fall 2019 was my start to my Senior Year at Temple. I was taking classes called Topic: UX Design, and Application Integration and Evaluation. In the UX Design class, I was learning about Norman’s UX Concepts and creating my own website. In the Application Integration and Evaluation class, I learned more about coding and experienced working with a partner close to completely develop a website that uses an API on AWS. The coding class this semester really opened my eyes and opinion on coding. I realized that I enjoyed coding and wanted to do more of it. This related to my career path because after this class I focused on getting a development job after graduation.

Spring 2020 is my final year as a student at Temple University and I am thankful to take Information Systems Integration as my final MIS course. In this course, I have been learning various tips and tricks about cybersecurity. I learned Kali Linux, Physical Security, Network Security, Cryptography, and how to exploit all the vulnerabilities. This is a great class to wrap up my years with the MIS program because it teaches you about Cybersecurity as a whole and all technologies.
