Interest and Hobbies

A Little About My Personal Life

While a majority of my time is split between school and work, I do sometimes get free time during which I like to partake in various hobbies and interests. Some of my biggest interests include: sports, cooking, and spending time with my puppy, Cooper.

Sports have been a huge part of my life since I was very little. Being the youngest of five children in my family, there was naturally a need to set myself apart. I accomplished this through my competitiveness in sports, whether on an organized team, or simply against my siblings at the park. Since I was able to swing a bat, I have been involved with baseball, one of my favorite sports. As a child I played 7 years of baseball for my local little league team. As I got older, baseball unfortunately was not as easy of an option due to school work and other obligations. I found baseball (in a sense) again through one of my employers, Best Buy. A colleague and I started an inter-company softball league with a few area stores and loved every minute of it. Playing again brought back my competitive side. Since leaving Best Buy, I have been involved ever since by assisting with my nephew’s little league team. I have learned a lot of coaching skills and leadership skills from this experience and I feel this will help me with my career aspirations.

cookingCooking

Cooking is my second passion. I have always said, “If I don’t do something in sports, I’m going to be a chef.” I find cooking to be a very relaxing, elegant activity. I enjoy cooking for my girlfriend and family. I cook everything from fancy cuisine to barbecue with my favorite being barbecue. I am a self-made “grill master”. Having no formal training, I feel that my skills with a grill are phenomenal. Cooking has taught me to be precise and accurate with everything I do and has also made me realize you can’t create the dish unless you have all of the ingredients. I take this very literally and make sure that with anything in life, I have all of my ingredients in order to complete my dish.

cooperCooper

Cooper is my one year old Beagle. I recently adopted Cooper from a local pet shop. While my parents weren’t very happy about the dog, I was very excited because I’ve wanted one for quite some time. Having Cooper is definitely a lot of work considering he has separation anxiety and he is still learning right and wrong. The advantage to having Cooper is that I have learned a great deal about responsibility. Having a dog is one of the greatest joys you can experience, but responsibility is a huge portion of the job. Cooper learns from me what is right and wrong, however, I learn just as much from him about having responsibility and being able to care for another life other than my own.
