Hobbies and Interests
Painting — I come from a family of artists so art has always been a big part of my life. Over the years I have experimented with many mediums but oil paint is my favorite. Throughout middle school and high-school I took Saturday art classes at Moore College of Art in Philadelphia, the last of which was a 6 hour landscape and still life course with oil paint. Now that I am a college student with less space and seventeen credit hours to balance, I have much less time to paint, but I still find time sporadically during the semester and during holiday vacations to pick up a brush. My time spent assisting with the Children’s Program at the Philadelphia Museum of Art has showed me the importance of being exposed to art at a young age and having people to support and foster ones creativity.
Short Stories — I began writing short stories several years ago after being very inspired by an English teacher I had senior year in high school. Some of my favorite writers are Richard Brautigan, Kurt Vonnegut, David Sedaris and Charlotte Bronte. I currently have a folder of about fifteen stories that I’ve written and am in a continuous process of editing. Lately, I have been trying to write more poetry but it doesn’t come as natural to be as short stories have.
