Summer Social Engineering Competition (SEC) 2024<\/strong><\/h2>\n

NSF-funded, CISA (DHS) sponsored:<\/span><\/b>\u00a0Social Engineering Competition (virtual)<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/span>
\n<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

When:<\/span><\/b> April 5-May 5, 2024
\n<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

What:<\/b> The SEC allows students to compete in a purely social engineering experience that is grounded in the social sciences. The competition offers a timely and unique platform for students to learn about social engineering in a hands-on, engaging, and ethical manner. The competition has a different theme each year to demonstrate the relevance of social engineering across various cybersecurity areas, and is open to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. The theme for the 2024 competition is employment and tax scams, and the event will be taking place virtually on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
\n<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Where:<\/strong> Virtual<\/p>\n

Prizes for each track: <\/b>
\n<\/span>1st place: $3,000 (can be cashed out OR used towards DEFCON SECVC participation* if team is chosen by the CARE Lab)
\n2nd place: $2,000
\n3rd place: $1,000
\n* We have a unique prize offering for this year! Our friends at the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>DEFCON Social Engineering Community (SEC)<\/span><\/b><\/a><\/span>\u00a0are\u00a0GENEROUSLY<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0offering ONE winning team (all tracks eligible) with a\u00a0GUARANTEED seat for the Social Engineering Community Vishing Competition (SECVC) at DEFCON 32 (team must still complete the pre-contest requirements as listed on\u00a0SEC website<\/span><\/a>).<\/span><\/strong><\/span>
