Merck
I was on assignment for Merck for the Summer of 2014. Merck is moving the location of their headquarters from Whitehouse Station, New Jersey to Kenilworth, New Jersey following their merger with Schering-Plough. I was responsible for archiving information regarding all the employees who left the company from 2009-2011. Also I was responsible for consolidating loose files which could have been from any employee in the company from 1970 to today. To do this I had to utilize Oracle to “make sense” of the files I was archiving. Oracle was vital because I utilized it to link an employee to an ID number, to identify whether the employee was terminated or retired, and if they were vested had they been terminated. Oracle was a great tool to utilize because it was vital for me to be able to finish my work by the deadline to assist Merck in preparing them for the move by allowing me to have unlimited data at my disposal and be able to make it useful in little to no time.
