Career Interests
Being an accounting major, I love to know how a business works through the numbers it produces on a quarterly basis. Accounting is the language of business, a saying that I often repeat when asked why I chose is as my major. However, everyone goes to college to get a good job so that is another reason why I am an accounting major. Every single business in America needs an accounting department to keep track of their assets, liabilities, etc. There will always be a job for myself in the future so long as I work hard, a thought that comforts me.
As far as an industry goes, my accounting interest is definitely in audit. I love to travel and learn about a new business, two things that go hand in hand as an auditor. The job itself entitles an accountant to peer inside a company and give an outsiders thoughts on what is going on and how it can be approved. Of course, they check for errors in the numbers and correct any that they see. This industry is huge in the Big Four accounting firms that we have today. My goal is to complete my four years here at Temple and gain a job in the audit practice at KPMG. I have an internship interview set up in the summer and if all goes well, I’ll work for KPMG next year as in intern and hopefully acquire a job offer.
