Database Administrator Intern
As a Database Administrator Intern at Global Systems Integration, Inc., I assisted GSI’s Database Management Team with database administration, support, and improvements of clientele database infrastructures. In addition to the role of the DBA I was assigned data analytics tasks, which included extracting and transforming internal and external data in support of GSI’s executive staff. As a member of GSI’s Database Management Team I was granted the opportunity to participate in multiple projects relating to GSI’s internal operations and clientele database infrastructure. Assigned projects of GSI consisted of extracting, transforming, and cross referencing data to be reported and displayed by the use of data visualization tools for quarterly financial review. Clientele based projects incorporated the configuration of database access and securing database infrastructures, which collected data of database performance was presented to the existing clientele. The assigned DBA role allowed for me the opportunity to display my acquired skills and knowledge obtained in MIS 2502 Data Analytics as I demonstrated my technical understanding of database functionality and the operational use of data analytics. The opportunity to intern with GSI’s Database Management Team has allowed for me to increase my technical understanding of leading database and data analytical tools as I expand my career within MIS.
