Douglas Rosencrans

I have been playing soccer ever since I was around 6 years old. Growing up in New York City, I was fortunate enough to grow up with people from many different backgrounds. Soccer truly is an international sport and the beautiful game and has given me the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. I am also a huge supporter of Chelsea Football Club from London, England. I have been fortunate enough to attend professional soccer matches not only here in the US but also in Costa Rica, Argentina and Brazil. Below is a picture of me playing soccer that was used to promote Buenos Aires Futbol Amigos in Argentina.

Traveling is something that I deeply enjoy and feel is part of what has shaped me as a person. I believe it causes you to step out of your comfort zone and can change your perspective on many things. Just within the past two years I have been fortunate enough to travel to Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Israel, Sweden, Spain and England. I studied abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina and enjoyed every minute of my time there which was so different from what I had grown accustomed to in New York City. If I had to pick the most beautiful place that I have seen in my life, I would have to say it was Iguazu Falls in South America.

Growing up in New York City with friends from all over the world, I was always fascinated by my friends who could speak more than one language.  I learned Spanish in high school and then studied abroad in Argentina where I was able to enhance my Spanish language skills to a very high level.  After traveling to Brazil and not knowing any Portuguese it was very humbling. I could not express myself and thought that Portuguese was a beautiful sounding language. I immediately became determined to learn and took a course in the Fall semester that was called “Portuguese for Spanish Speakers”. I hope that I will be able to one day master Portuguese and use it in a professional setting when doing business.
