A Dream Deferred: Redlining Past, Present, Future
Launched: September 2018
Redlined neighborhoods are areas where lenders refuse to offer loans to residents and/or make loans on unfavorable terms in what’s called “predatory lending.” As a research intern, I collected and analyzed demographic data throughout numerous neighborhoods in Philadelphia to identify which residents were most susceptible redlining. Additionally, I collaborated with geographic information system analysts and touch technologists in order to create a touch-screen visualization. This was featured in Little Giant Creative’s multi-experiential exhibit which allowed visitors to explore information using touch technology.
