Introduction to Generative AI

In this LinkedIn Learning, Sarah Bird and Seth Juarez talk about what Microsoft has implemented within their software to be responsible with Generative AI. Sarah talks about the four steps of how to put this into practice and they are identify, measure, mitigate, and operate. Within mitigation there are four layers, including model, safety system, application, and positioning. One of the biggest things I learned from this LinkedIn Learning, was how Microsoft was how they were using these mitigation layers to produce better results or no results at all for a safety reasons. Another thing I learned, was that Microsoft produces references in its output as part of its application layer for Bing so that users know where the outputted information came from. Lastly, I think one of the most important things I learned was the importance of AI being a collaborative tool not a replacement to a human’s role in the task they are completing. I can use what I learned from this LinkedIn Learning in my future career by recalling these steps when using generative AI to make sure I am using it not only responsibly but also making sure the information I am receiving is accurate.
