Data Analyst Intern
The Risk Management Association is a member-driven organization in the finance and risk industry, headquartered in Philadelphia, PA. My role primarily involved remote support for the professional development team, focusing on data-driven research, analysis, and visualization. I handled qualitative and quantitative learning data, and created and maintained models, reports, and dashboards using Tableau and Ignite Analytics. I also recommended KPIs and best practices to enhance the team’s goals.
My projects included cleaning a large educational user dataset and developing Ignite dashboards for further analysis, generating reports on subscription utilization in the learning management system, and creating a dynamic course cancellation report in Tableau. Additionally, I compiled a list of economic development authority contacts in Excel for the member relations team.
This role aligned with my studies in MIS, specifically Data and Analytics (MIS 2502) and User Experience Design (MIS 3506). Data analytics and user experience design were integral to my tasks as each project required both components to successfully execute and display my results. My previous exposure to Tableau through a MIS-related GenEd course: Data Science (MIS 0855) also gave me a competitive edge, allowing me to build upon and strengthen these skills in this role. In summary, this internship was a transformative experience that launched my career journey!
