Genesis Healthcare
This past summer I had the privilege of working as a human resources intern in the Central Southeast Division of Genesis Healthcare. Genesis Healthcare owns and operates skilled nursing and rehab facilities, offering both short term and long term care.
Some of the projects I worked on included:
- Developing a division-wide metrics dashboard and facilitated data pulls for 120 centers that focused on hiring, turnover, and retention.
- Assembling a Mergers & Acquisitions Handbook for HR acquisitions leads and meeting with leaders from across the organization to gather information.
- Coordinating recruitment strategy review for 60 Mid-America Centers and making recommendations to improve hiring and termination processes.
- Producing individualized hires and terminations analysis, and compensation reports for 60 centers.
- Performing an internal audit of I-9 documentation and following up for required revisions.
This internship enabled me to work with a variety of functions of the HR department, on both team projects and my own individual projects. The part I enjoyed most about working for Genesis Healthcare was how meaningful everyone, myself included, found the work we did, being able to relate it back to our ultimate goal of providing high quality care and compassion to our patients.
