Development Operations Intern

Temple University – College of Public Health Development Operations Intern

I was tasked with supporting the College of Public Health’s (CPH) development and alumni relations through the use of technology. My responsibilities included assisting professional staff with administrative operations utilizing Excel sheets, data entry, mail merges, and contact reports. The projects I worked on included creating weekly acknowledgment letters to be sent out to alumni using the Mail Merge feature in Microsoft Word. After completing these letters each week, I utilized Blackbaud, which is a cloud computing provider that serves the social good community in nonprofits, foundations, and corporations, in order to create contact reports. The purpose of this was to continuously keep track of and maintain CPH’s Fundraiser Performance Management database through an efficient process. I generated over 450 acknowledgement letters as well as contact reports for the company by employing my skills in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Blackbaud.

From this internship, I was able to further enhance my skills in Microsoft Word and Excel by handling large amounts of data that was given to me. I also learned how to use the cloud computing provider, Blackbaud, in order to gain a technological advantage for Temple CPH’s Development department. From this, I was able to successfully maintain development and alumni relations, digitally, for my supervisor by using and analyzing the data stored in Blackbaud. Blackbaud’s computer software allowed me to navigate through its database and create reports to support Temple CPH just like in MIS 2502 (Data and Analytics) where we learned to use analytics software (MySQL Workbench and MongoDB) to create schemas from databases and support applications. This internship has taught me many valuable skills that I look forward to utilizing in my future career!
