Health Consulting Intern
Over the summer I had the privilege of interning at Mercer and served as a Health Consulting Intern. During this time I calculated PCORI fees, insurance renewals, and actuarial value comparisons utilizing MedPrice software. I then compiled data into PowerPoint presentations and sat in on various client meetings. I peer-reviewed SPD reviews and conducted booklet reviews of medical plans while comparing them to prior years utilizing Bitvise software. I organized benchmarking data and filled out National Surveys for companies ranging from 100-5,000 employees, which later is what Mercer used to release their National Benchmark. This year, this benchmark released that for the third year in a row health insurance prices will be rising over 5%.
This role taught me about the importance of networking and maintaining connections. I have become skilled at analyzing data, figuring out how to work with various software applications, and improving upon my mathematical skills. This experience was truly invaluable and allowed me to hone in on my technological savviness and organization skills. As a Risk Management and MIS major, this role allowed me to uniquely combine aspects of both majors into an 8-week internship.
