Gamma Iota Sigma
Here at Temple University I am majoring in Risk Management and Insurance. In being a member of this major, I am also a member of the Gamma Iota Sigma chapter of Temple University. The purpose of this fraternal organization is to encourage, establish, and enhance the professionalism of students in the Risk Management, Healthcare Risk Management, and Actuarial Science programs. Temple University has the largest Gamma Iota Sigma chapter in the country, and has a rich tradition in a strong professional network. For more information check out their website sigmachapter.org.
Sports
Sports are one of my favorite things to watch and be involved with. Growing up as a kid, sports were what kept me motivated and in physical shape. By playing sports it gave me the ability to work on a team, develop and execute strategies, and acquire leadership skills. In playing sports I was part of a team, and had to work with other people to achieve a certain goal, and that goal was to WIN! By being part of a team it made me think in pressure situations and take action in order to beat the other team. These skills I have learned from sports correlate to the skills I need to be successful in the business world.
To this day my favorite sports are basketball, football, and baseball, I feel partially that these are my favorite because these are the sports that I grew up playing and loving. My favorite basketball team is the Philadelphia 76ers. I fell in love with the Sixers when I was 8 years old by watching Allen Iverson weave through defenders and taking it to the basket on any defender that tried getting in his way. My passion for the Sixers lasts to this day, and now that I am a Philadelphia resident, I love when I get the chance to take a subway ride down to the Wells Fargo Center and watch my team play.
