Project Description

Bankground:

Currently the most common communication tool to be used be tween police officers is through radio. This communication tool makes it inconvenient for the officers to call for backup during the pursuit of the suspect or when there is an emergency. It is also very difficult for the officers to clearly explain his/her location or situation through the radio while in action. The less time it takes for officers to call backup, the higher the chance that they will arrest the suspect is, and the more likely they will remain safe in a mission.

Additionally, we will utilize the heart rate sensor technology in the watch to monitor an officer’s heart rate. With perpetrators being executed, the officer’s heart rate can also be analyzed and may be presented in court as an evidence.

Solution:

The prototype that is going to be built can be used on Apple Watch. The Watch will detect police officers’ heart rate, and it will trigger the alarm automatically when unusual heart rate is detected. The dispatch center and nearby officers will receive the alarm and GPS location of the officer, and provide support immediately. However, the officer will be prompted on their watch to accept back up.
