Ink of Kindness
My chapter Epsilon Delta, of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc hosted a community service that was open to the Temple community. Our community service was based around writing letters to children who are currently in Thika’s children hospital. Participants could create and design age-appropriate cards that would inspire encouragement. This was one of my personal favorite community service because I enjoy helping out children, especially those in need. The goal was to write at least 50 letters to be sent to the Thika hospital in Thika, Kenya. We over exceeded our expectations and wrote 100 letters that were immediately sent out. As the President, I not only generated the idea but I also facilitated the whole event, including using Temple allocations to purchase supplies. I learned that even small acts can make a big difference in someone’s life.
