Intro to critical making
The activity was a 90-minute workshop focused on how everyday physical objects can be transformed into digital artifacts through 3D scanning technology. It was led by Hannah Mae Greenfield, who guided participants in understanding how researchers, artists, and archivists use scanning tools to preserve and study cultural heritage. My role was to attend the session, participate in the demonstrations, and engage with the hands-on exploration of how 3D scanning captures detailed digital models. I learned how scanning enhances documentation, accessibility, and preservation of important objects, and why these techniques are increasingly valuable across disciplines. Overall, the workshop gave me practical insight into the cultural and technical significance of 3D scanning as a modern tool for storytelling, research, and digital preservation.
