Global IT Procurement Intern
As a summer intern with Organon’s Global IT & Corporate Services Procurement team in its Enterprise Services & Solutions (ESS) department, I supported vendor RFP management, contract standardization, and AI integration across a Fortune 500 biopharmaceutical company with 10,000+ employees operating in 140+ countries. ESS operates as a strategic intersection between departments, combining technical innovation with process optimization to support Organon’s focus on pharmaceutical development, manufacturing, and commercialization. My core responsibilities centered on bridging supplier relationships with business value for IT stakeholders, conducting cost savings analysis, and building AI tools within the procurement organization. One of my primary projects involved leading a contract inventorying initiative, analyzing agreements with over 1,500 suppliers representing $1.54 billion in annual spend, sharpening the data standardization and analytical discipline central to MIS. This analytical foundation carried into my next project, where I helped lead an RFP process across four vendors for biometric identity verification software, giving me practical exposure to vendor negotiation and supply chain decision-making that directly reinforced my choice to pursue Supply Chain as my second major. Beyond RFP work, I aligned IT procurement with a renewal tracker spanning 300 agreements through 2028 and flagged savings opportunities exceeding $1.9 million, reinforcing how process optimization translates into measurable business value. I also coordinated business reviews for major cloud services, enterprise software, and life sciences vendors, benchmarking supplier performance against contractual expectations. Perhaps most rewarding was my work in AI: I developed over 50 prompts for procurement’s first prompt library and co-founded an internal “Claude 101” educational series, an experience that showed me how emerging technology and process design intersect, which I hope to explore further in a future technology-focused internship. Ultimately, this internship transformed abstract coursework into tangible business practice, confirming that my academic path in Management Information Systems and Supply Chain positions me well for a career bridging technology and operations.
