The Role of History and Architecture in My Life
From a young age, I have loved “pretty houses.” When it came time for college, obviously academic excellence was a high priority of mine. However when considering, I remembered my deep love for the rich architectural and cultural history of the area. Coming from a long line of Philadelphians, I love this city’s history, as it holds countless insights and aesthetic beauty all can deeply benefit from. I am currently operating a Facebook page entitled “Historic Architecture in North Philadelphia,” as a simple tribute to the magnificently artful space around us. In order to maintain the most educated outlook on the future, and logical view of the present, it is extremely important to reflect on our past. In looking at the space around us, we may do so with ease!
Musical Skills
For the past several years, I have been proud to call myself a pianist. From teaching myself to enrolling in formal lessons, the piano has provided me a passionate space where I can express, entertain, and learn about myself. Having an ear for music, I also compose and tune pianos.
I also picked up a rather unique hobby from my love of music- collecting historical recordings mostly prior to the mid-1930s. My main area of interest focuses around early jazz and blues, which reflects itself in my own musical style, alongside romantic era and opera. The recording technology was extremely different at this time, providing for a very different and quite organic sound. Combining it with my present day tech skills, I am proud to run a YouTube page entitled “Echoic Memory Productions” dedicated to preserving and sharing the music from my records for all to enjoy.
