Finance Intern

      1. Official job title (e.g., Analyst)

      Finance Intern

      1. Name of the organization where you worked (e.g., Pfizer)

      Airgas

      1. Job date: The term in which the work experience was completed.

      June-August 2022

      1. Job description paragraph (all four items below are required).
        1. Information about the organization (e.g., type, size, location, specific division/department in which you are employed)

Airgas is a company under Air Liquide. It is a Fortune 500 company that supplies various chemicals and gases. Airgas also offers industrial safety products. Its headquarters is in Radnor, PA. I took part in the financial planning and analysis team in Conshohocken, PA. My team consisted of six people total excluding myself.

      1. Job function (e.g., overall role, assigned tasks)

My job function is to help the team in their roles which is to make monthly financial reports and auditing.

      1. Examples of projects (e.g., list the projects you worked on and what you accomplished)

I contributed to the quarterly competitor analysis report where I researched competitor financial statements, earnings reports, and calls. I would report the information I found in an Excel sheet.

My next project was to create a dynamic dashboard on Power BI of the company’s daily sales outstanding. I extracted data from SAP and imported it into Power BI and turns the data into queries. I then used the data to find the daily sales outstanding and create data visualizations including yearly daily sales outstanding in a bar chart or a table that shows each individual team’s daily sales outstanding. A filter is used so that all of the charts will dynamically change based on the filter. This is also dynamic because it will automatically update each month saving time for the team each month.

I also improved my Excel skills by learning new functions like CONCATENATE or IF statements. I used these functions to extract specific data from a large data set.

      1. What you learned and how it relates to your major (e.g., describe what you learned from this internship in the context of specific courses).
Note: once approved, the job description is automatically displayed in a post on your portfolio.

I learned a lot about data in my internship. I think that MIS 2502 helped me a lot. SQL was similar to what I was doing in Excel and contained similar functions. I learned how to extract data from a large database in SAP. I then learned how to analyze the data to form a story out of it. After analyzing the data, I turned it into a visual so that other people in the company can read the data easier. Power BI contained information in MIS 2502 like how queries work and how to form relationships with them.
