IT/Photo Service Technician
My internship at the Walgreens Pharmacy and Drugstore under the IT services department provided me with many valuable skills and knowledge for the future. The responsibilities my position included servicing and maintaining customer data records, as well as troubleshooting and repairing employee workstations when needed, alongside the occasional maintenance of company photo equipment and related supplies. During my internship there, I had to manage and transfer over 2,000+ customer records from an older database, to a newer one. This process had to be completed within a 3-day window. To fulfill my role, I had to quickly learn the management software, completely foreign to me at the time, to meet the deadline in transferring all customer records. In doing so, I adapted to complete a company objective in a short amount of time. My successful experience in transporting data using a system that was foreign to me for a brief period gives me the confidence that will allow me to master other forms of database infrastructure in my post-academic career. This experience instantly reminded me about MIS 2502 and how important data analytics are to any company, firm and organization, in this instance with transactional data. In addition to this experience, I had opportunities to develop my customer service skills as well. This including assisting customers with questions regarding company products and services, in addition to, answering questions on customer photo orders. To fulfill my role, I creatively use direct and relatable language with customers in the most courteous and professional way possible, to effectively communicate what products and services are provided, be it in person, web, e-mail, or telephone. In doing so, customers find it simple understanding company products and services provided. My background in customer service will be an asset in assisting customers in any future position I may hold in the future.
