Temple University’s Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA), Philadelphia, PA, October 2014 – Present

Website Manager

I’m currently a website manager of Temple University’s Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CSSA). I manage and edit interactive web pages which serves about 1500 Chinese students for CSSA’s website on a weekly basis. I use WordPress to post association’s calendar and past events’ photos. Additionally, I moderated a chat internet forum to a second-hand commodities trading forum to provide a platform for Temple Chinese students to trade books, clothes, electronics and miscellaneous objects. Usually, I attend weekly association meeting to communicate with chairman on upcoming events promotion.

Temple University Data Analytics Challenge, Philadelphia, PA, October 2014 – November 2014

Participant, Data Analytics Challenge

I cooperated with four people to complete the Lockheed Martin data analytics challenge on insider threats such as patterns and inconsistencies in travel & phone records. I cleaned about 2 million records of data and used Excel to identify relationships between employee information, air travel and phone call logs. I also  assigned risk scores to different risk determinants to measure its riskiness. Additionally, I utilized Tableau to visualize findings in a symbol map and a stacked bar. Our group presented different risk determinant impacts on insider threats to the class in the end.

YIMING BEDDING-CLOTHING Co., Ltd, Jiangsu, China, June 2014 – July 2014

Accounting bookkeeping Intern

This summer, I found an accounting intern in YIMING BEDDING-CLOTHING Co., Ltd. YIMING BEDDING-CLOTHING Co., Ltd is a knitwear manufacturing company with 100 employees and ¥42.5 million in annual revenue. I maintained daily journal entries for it. I categorized original documents pertaining to such matters as cash, checks, and bank slips; recorded journal entries in accounting voucher; stapled original documents and accounting voucher together. Also, I used Golden Online software to update the recorded entries on the Internet; checked the online records and accounting vouchers again for accuracy, then located stapled original documents and accounting vouchers in the archives of this month. Additionally, I contacted 3 – 4 clients per day in Jiangsu Province to obtain additional information on purchase transactions to prepare the tax payments. Last but not least, I operated copy machines, scanners and printers to generate everyday report and special notices to the accounting department manager at the end of the day.

WINTHROP UNIVERSITY, Rock Hill, SC, September 2013 – November 2013

Feasibility Study, Bike Share Program

This feasibility study is intended to investigate the possibility of carrying out a bike share program in Winthrop University. Most of the international students at Winthrop University have transportation problems. Carrying out a bike share program can relieve this situation.

I conducted a one-page survey, including classification, true or false and multiple choice questions; distributed to 50 students to obtain feedback about the bike program. I interviewed the sustainability coordinator of Facilities Management Department for opinion; talked about four main concerns: cost of operating the program, possible payment methods, facilities needed, and ways to obtain funding. I developed comparative studies on eight schools which have bike share programs to identify the advantages and disadvantages if the program was to be implemented. In the end, I analyzed all the information, generated a 12-page report with supporting figures, and presented the project to the class. Unfortunately, the program was not approved because of tight budget.
