Volunteer Activity for Stand Up To Cancer
The volunteer work I recently completed was sponsored by Upper Deck Golf, a company that transforms professional sports stadiums, in my case Citizens Bank Park, into 9 hole golf courses that also include different skills challenges such as chipping, putting, and long drive. Upper Deck Golf partnered with the charitable organization Stand Up To Cancer in order to raise money for them through this event at Citizens Bank Park. My role as a volunteer for this event was to run the chipping skills challenge. My responsibilities for this included making sure the skills challenge area was clear and ready for participants to use, collecting tickets for people to participate in the challenge, accepting cash and card payments for this challenge, and of course being friendly and welcoming to everyone during the course of the day. I learned all about Upper Deck Golf and how they partner with charities to raise money, and I believe this work helped me with my communication skills because I was greeting and talking to people all day while I was running the skills challenge.
