From Hospitality to Health Care – Critical Creative Thinking

I am a transitioning professional looking to leverage my past accomplishments in the field of hospitality where I held the positions of an Executive Chef and Owner towards the Health Care arena specifically in hospital administration, patient flow management, and/or Continuous Care Retirement Community (CCRC).

Although an unlikely professional transition from Hospitality to Health Care transferable skills such as high emotional intelligence, team formation and maximization, critical thinking and problem solving, change management, operational efficiency, financial modeling, design and innovation thinking and systems analysis are at the core of both professions.

Culinary educated and professionally developed, many of my solutions to critical problems can be attributed to my culinary background.  In an age where unique answers are needed to solve our greatest challenges, design thinking mandates different approaches to the same old problems.  Fresh eyes and new views will generally create many questions, however by questions the most insignificant detail we ultimately gain greater understanding and new, unthought-of solution.  This is how hospitality will lend flavor to health care and how critical creative thinking will innovate the future.
