Perspective

Perspective is a funny thing.  It can change based on different outlooks or attitude as well as point of views and approaches.  Take for an example my introduction to India.  After sleeping only a few hours in three days, my luggage was lost by the airline company.  My first two days in India were spent in grubby, airline-traveled-dirty, and ripe clothes.  The world felt upside down.  All I wanted was clean clothing, my clean clothing.  This negatively affected my outlook on India and this immersion trip.  However, once I heard about my fellow classmates traveling woos (particularly those heading to China), my trauma seemed trivial.  In fact a fellow Fox traveling companion lent me his shorts.  Although these where not my shorts, I was grateful to borrow them.  These shorts helped to change my perspective.

Instead of a bleak outlook and sour attitude, my perspective positively improved with feelings of excitement and exploration in the coming days.  I did have constant reminders from another Fox traveler that my outfit has not changed in several days, but his verbal jabs did not alter my outlook of the future.

I reflected on this experience traveling to our first hotel in Mumbai.  How often have we made permanent judgments in the past without taking inventory of our perspective, attitude or outlook?  I do not want to make this mistake.  During this immersion my approach will be to live the moment and allow each experience to be fresh, untainted and without baggage.   This is my point of view, this is my perspective.
